If you are wondering what the word speranta means, it is the Romanian word for help. Our mission is to help individuals and families in north east Romania in their time of need.
WHAT WE DO
We support the most needy people in Romania
By working with trusted local coordinators we are bringing life-changing relief to those who really need it.
Speranta Trust was formed as an English registered charity in 2002 and has been working in the Botosani county in the North East of Romania since then.

“We are grateful for the generous support of Speranta in helping us provide hot meals to the eldrely in the area. ”

OUR MOST RECENT CAUSE
Supporting Ukrainian Refugees in Romania
Since the invasion of Ukraine in Feb 2022 we have been focusing on getting our house fit for short-term accommodation of transient refugees.
The work required includes repairs to plumbing and heating, cleaning and hygiene preparation, and general maintenance of the facilities. WiFi will also be made available to all of our guests, allowing them to keep in touch with loved ones and stay up to date with news and personal administration.
We are working with local and international agencies to provide much needed crisis support, and will be working with local churches and other organisations to provide emotional and spiritual support in the near future.
With your help, we should be ready to offer comfortable accommodation, essential facilities, and hot food by early April 2022.

Who are we?
Simon and Fiona Maddox live in Surrey, England. They have a long established history with north east Romania, in the Botosani district.
The are both actively involved in their local church (Christ Central, Redhill) where they have leadership roles in IT and Worship.
Their love and care for Romania comes from their love of people mixed together with their sense of responsibility to share God’s love with those in need.
Their response to the needs in the district of Botosani and the refugee crisis is fully supported by their family, friends and church community.
